Indian Summer

(Alexander McQueen S/S 12)

(Chanel Paris Fashion show,  2012)

The Darjeeling Limited by Wes Anderson

The Darjeeling Limited by Wes Anderson

(Alexander McQueen S/S 12)

'I'm not a marketing person. I don't ask myself questions. I go by instinct'

Karl Lagerfeld

Summer's here and I can't help but remember Chanel's pre fall 2012 show which was so heavily influenced by India. The accessories were amazing; so sparkly and beautiful and every thing my inner princess adores....But it didn't stop there, Alexander McQueen's fashion house also spoiled us with some great Indian inspired pieces too! Without a doubt, Wes Anderson is one of my favourite film makers and The Darjeeling Limited is such an inspiring film, filled with all the nuances you would expect from a Wes Anderson film. Within the film we see three dysfunctional brothers travel across India on a train. I am definitely dreaming of an Indian summer....

Shiny happy people

Antonio Berardi S/S 12

YSL cage shoes

Miu Miu S/S 12

Mary-Kate on the cover of Elle

Shiny man on the moon....

Nicole Richie in Berardi S/S 12

'It is only needful for our dreams to be very shiny'
C. JoyBell

Like a magpie, I adore shiny things and nothing caught my eye more this season than Antonio Berardi's S/S 12 collection. Berardi is most likely known for his body con dresses and he is heavily influenced in his designs by men's tailoring, giving a very structured look to his collections. Nicole Richie was spotted wearing his embellished leggings and paired with a pink, oversized blazer it really works. It just proves that metallic fabric and embellishments are not just for the Christmas season!

Broke girls love Prada

(Broke Girls)

(Broke Girls)

(Freida Pinto at Nylon event)

“We started with this idea of doing something fancy… but with the basis of sport

Miuccia Prada

I watched Two Broke Girls this weekend and not only did I adore the kooky characters but in a strange way it also inspired me to consider wearing red and yellow pieces together... Something about the aesthetic of the show made me re-visit Prada's s/s 2012 collection. I adore the car print they used which is so fun and playful!  Freida Pinto shows how you can wear something fun but still make it look chic.

Pink Peach Pastels

(Marie Antoinette film staring Kirsten Dunst)

(Zara S/S 12)

(Lauren Conrad at a recent book signing)

(Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette)

(My Little Pony.....)

(Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette)

'I have seen all, I have heard all, I have forgotten all'
Marie Antoinette

Having re watched Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette film again last night, it has deepened my love of pink and peach pastels for the summer.  Zara have got great pieces that are perfect if, like me, you don't want to invest too heavily in these sugary shades (I have already bought a great peach blouse). Even Lauren Conrad seems to be experimenting with pink - she has dip dyed her hair pink which is such a fun look. But not even Lauren Conrad can compete with the pink pastel hue that My Little Pony always rocks....

Bananas for Acne

(Acne S/S 12)

(Kirsten Dunst)

(Nicole Richie at H&M flagship store, NYC)

'My parents always pushed creativity on us, but they made it seem like the fun thing to do'
Gwen Stefani

Acne truly are one of my favourite fashion houses and their S/S 12 collection fuses bright colours with flattering pieces. It's easy to forget that Acne started as a brand that focused mainly on jeans. But today I was also inspired by bright yellow clothing as seen on Kirsten and Nicole - they always manage to pull off wearing difficult shades so well!

Cool Coppola

(Gia Coopola, Vogue Paris)

(Gia Coopola)

(Carven S/S/ 12)

(Carven S/S/ 12)
(Gia Coopola in Urban Magazine)

'Everyone in my family is in the film business; I knew I wanted to be creative and it was important in my family to be artistic'

Sofia Coppola

Being drawn to film making and photography must run in the Coppolas family genes and Gia Coppola is no exception. I am currently inspired by her style in which she epitomises a laid back approach to Gallic chic. She often wears skinny jeans, a loose tee and tousled hair - which looks effortlessly stylish. To me Carven is such a great French label and always offers such wearable collections. Their S/S 12 collection is really great for finding key pieces that transcend seasons and also evokes French style.

It's bright, it's summer!

(House of Dagmar)

(Isabel Marant)

Summer always encourages me to be more daring in my fashion choices and therefore I'm more willing to incorporate bold prints and bright colours into my wardrobe. Isabel Marant's tie-dye jacket is perfect as its structured yet the die-dye pattern and embellishments make it fun and a great way to add some excitement to any look. Topshop has some great looks too this season but House of Dagmar has a collection which is bright yet functional for everyday looks. Oh how I adore summer....
